Leach 100 Residency Artist 2020
Based in Studio 5 at Porthmeor Studios, St Ives the residency provided the opportunity to carry out intensive exploration of locally sourced natural materials from surrounding coastal sites and abandoned china clay industrial sites. Responding to Leach Pottery as a place of radical experimentation and place and landscape in making. Work focused on the notion of ‘Trace’ in materials and notions of Museums of the future, a recurring theme in Lancaster’s work. Lancaster was joined by ceramic artists Jim Gladwin and Anne Laure Cano under the temporary collective name Eutectic for the period of the residency.
For the duration of the residency Lancaster took over the Leach Pottery blog to document her ideas and working practice in three parts. Post 1: Blueprint for a Museum Post 2: Blue Veins and Blue Skies Post 3: Blues, Post Residency
