Thing Power

Julia Ellen Lancaster works with clays, rocks and glazes, dug, reclaimed and recycled. Assembling sculptures from the accumulation of materials collected over time and in themselves are imbued with the centuries of the rock cycle.

The work takes on the form of distilled monuments or pseudo fossils. For this exhibition Lancaster plays with imagined landscapes that interrupts ideas of beauty and nature.
